None of us are silos. We are what we have become.

At the age of 11 we moved from one region in South Africa, to another. People in this province didn’t travel much and in general thought that their province was the end of the world.

Yes, it is true that birds of a feather flock together. But, the sooner one gets involved in the community where you live, the better. Within the first month of touching down in New Zealand, I joined the Whangarei Ministers Association. In fact, within the first 5 days I phoned up the pastor of the church just around the corner. Three weeks later we moved into a rental in a panhandle with 6 neighbours around us. I met each one of them and introduced myself to them. I know their names, pray for them, exchange veggies over the fence and have the odd chit-chat about this and that. I share my pannekoek and beskuit with them and in so doing we build trust, relationship and brake down silos.

We have a clear instruction to build houses, plant gardens, get married, have children and work for the benefit of this country. We get involved and pray for this country to prosper, “because when they prosper, we will prosper also”.
